From Shaggy to Sleek: Hershey’s Spa Day at Sleek & Savvy

It was grooming day for Hershey, and apparently he knew something was up before we even made it out the door. 😂

There he was, shaggy hair, leash on, giving me that look that said:

“Mom… where exactly are we going?”

Then he noticed the signs.

Yep.

Sleek & Savvy Groomers.

Hershey may act a little suspicious about the whole grooming process at first, but the funny thing is — he LOVES Jimmy and Savannah.

And honestly, that makes all the difference to me.

Meanwhile, back at home, RaeRae watched her brother leave and immediately realized something wonderful had happened.

The house was hers.

No Hershey.

No barking.

No dog trying to steal her toys.

No brother interrupting her time with Mom.

Just RaeRae, Mama, toys, naps, and peace. 😂

You could almost hear her thinking:

“Finally. Mother-and-daughter time.”

While RaeRae was enjoying her temporary only-child status, Hershey was over at Sleek & Savvy getting the full treatment.

Bath.

Haircut.

Lots of attention.

Lots of love.

And, of course, treats.

Jimmy and Savannah Schinault have always been so good with Hershey. He knows them, trusts them, and genuinely seems happy to see them.

That means a lot to me.

Then came pickup time.

I walked in to get Hershey and there he was — no longer my shaggy little boy.

He was CLEAN.

Trimmed.

Handsome.

Sleek.

Savvy.

And clearly very pleased with himself. 😂

I’m pretty sure he was thinking:

“Fresh haircut. Fresh bandana. Please admire me accordingly.”

Then we headed home for the final inspection.

RaeRae came over and gave him the official sister sniff.

You know how cats are.

She had to make sure this freshly groomed creature really was her brother.

After a thorough investigation, she seemed to decide:

“Okay. Same crazy brother. Just cleaner, sleeker, and freshly groomed.”

And just like that, the siblings were reunited. ❤️

This comic is funny, but I also wanted to use it to give a genuine shout-out to Jimmy and Savannah at Sleek & Savvy Groomers here in Henderson, Kentucky.

When you leave your pet with someone, you are trusting them with a member of your family.

It matters when people take the time to make an animal feel comfortable, safe, and loved.

Hershey loves going there, and I appreciate the way Jimmy and Savannah love on him and take care of him.

Proverbs 12:10 says:

“The godly care for their animals, but the wicked are always cruel.”

Sometimes caring for the animals God has entrusted to us means feeding them, protecting them, playing with them, taking them to the vet…

…and sometimes it means sending your shaggy dog off for a spa day and bringing home a handsome little gentleman in a bandana. 😂❤️
