Good Morning, Momβ¦ Itβs Time to Get Up!
πΎ Called, Chosen & Slightly Chaotic πΎ
Life with Hershey, RaeRae, and me!
There comes a point every morning when Hershey decides I have slept long enough.
It usually starts quietly.
He gets close.
He looks at me.
And then he stares.
And stares.
And somehow that stare gets louder and louder without him making a sound. π
You can almost hear him thinking:
βGood morning, Mom. Are you awake yetβ¦ or should I keep staring?β
If that doesnβt work, he moves on to the next phase.
The charm offensive.
He curls up close.
He rolls over.
He gives me that precious little face.
And suddenly Iβm giving him belly rubs while apparently forgetting that I was trying to sleep.
Hershey knows exactly what he is doing. π
Then comes the unmistakable message:
βOkay, Mom. This has been niceβ¦ but breakfast exists.β
There is apparently NO snooze button in Hersheyβs world.
Once Hershey decides morning has arrived, morning has arrived.
And if the staring doesnβt workβ¦
and the cuddling doesnβt workβ¦
and the belly-rub routine doesnβt workβ¦
he simply keeps escalating the cuteness until Mama finally gives in.
Mission accomplished.
But just when Hershey thinks he has successfully claimed all of Momβs morning attention, RaeRae appears.
And you can almost hear her saying:
βExcuse meβ¦ what about ME? Can I get into snuggle time too?β πβ€οΈ
Of course she can.
So now my morning routine apparently consists of one dog reminding me that breakfast is urgent and one cat making sure she receives equal access to Mom.
And somehow Iβm the one who thought I was going to sleep in. π
But honestly?
I wouldnβt trade these moments.
There is something special about waking up surrounded by these little creatures that love me and apparently believe every morning should begin together.
As funny as Hersheyβs personal wake-up service is, it also reminds me of something deeper.
Every morning really is a fresh gift.
Yesterday is behind us.
God gives us new mercy.
A new beginning.
Another opportunity to love, laugh, worship, forgive, serve, and be grateful.
Sometimes that reminder comes through a quiet moment with God.
And sometimes it comes through a little dog staring at you from six inches away because breakfast is apparently an emergency. π
π βThe faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.β
β Lamentations 3:22β23 NLT
Todayβs Message:
Every new morning is a fresh gift from God.
Even if Hershey insists on personally announcing its arrival. πβ€οΈ
