Hershey’s Four-Day Stay at Towne Square Pet Resort

I was gone for four days for a conference in Greenwood, Indiana, where I led worship on Saturday.

And whenever I have to be away, one of my biggest concerns is Hershey.

If you know Hershey, you know he is not usually a “people and dogs” kind of dog. 😂

He can be very particular about who he trusts.

Other dogs?

Usually not interested.

Strangers?

Also usually not interested.

But somehow Towne Square Pet Resort in Owensboro is different.

He LOVES it there.

The minute we arrive, he seems to know exactly where he is.

Instead of acting nervous or unsure, he gets excited.

And that means so much to me, because leaving your pet somewhere for several days is a whole lot easier when you know they actually feel safe there.

Towne Square has a Serenity Area, which is perfect for Hershey.

It gives him a quieter, calmer space where he can settle in without feeling overwhelmed.

And apparently he has decided:

“Yes. This place passes inspection.” 😂

What makes me smile the most is how comfortable he is with the people there.

For a dog who usually takes time to trust people, watching him relax around their staff tells me everything I need to know.

He knows them.

He trusts them.

And he knows they are going to take care of him.

So while I was away leading worship and spending several days in Indiana, Hershey had his own little retreat back in Owensboro.

Then came pickup day.

And there is nothing quite like seeing your dog come walking down that hallway toward you after you have been gone.

That little face.

That tail.

That look that says:

“MOM! You came back!”

And if Hershey could talk, I’m pretty sure his next sentence would be:

“I missed you… but I had a pretty good time too.” 😂❤️

That is the kind of place you want for your pet.

A place where you can leave knowing they are cared for.

A place where the staff understands them.

A place where even a dog who normally isn’t comfortable with everyone can somehow relax and feel at home.

I’m so thankful for the people at Towne Square Pet Resort and the way they care for Hershey.

It gives me peace when ministry and travel take me away from home.

And I think Hershey would agree:

He is always happy to see Mom again…

but Towne Square is one place he really doesn’t mind staying. 😂❤️

Sometimes God’s care for us shows up through the people He places around us.

When we have to leave something precious in someone else’s hands, it is a blessing to know they will treat it with care, patience, and love.
