The Laser Pointer Comes Out Again!
πΎ Called, Chosen & Slightly Chaotic πΎ
Life with Hershey, RaeRae, and me!
While Iβve been working on organizing the apartment, I came across something I had almost forgotten about.
RaeRaeβs old laser pointer.
She LOVED that thing when she was a kitten.
I honestly couldnβt remember the last time I had used it with her, so of course I had to see if she would still care about it now that sheβs all grown up.
The answer?
Oh yes.
Very much yes. π
The second that little pink light hit the floor, it was like kitten RaeRae came right back out.
She froze.
She stared.
Then she went after it.
Across the carpet.
Up the wall.
Down the hallway.
Around the room.
Paw.
Paw.
Pounce.
Miss.
Turn around.
Try again.
π
And Iβm standing there laughing because apparently she remembered EXACTLY what this game was.
Meanwhile, Hershey was watching the whole thing like:
βWhat in the world is she doing?β
He looked completely confused as RaeRae chased a tiny pink light all over the apartment.
Iβm pretty sure he was trying to figure out what exactly she was hunting and why he couldnβt see it.
But RaeRae?
She did not care.
She was focused.
Determined.
And having the time of her life.
At one point she was batting at the wall like that little light had personally offended her.
Then she would chase it across the floor, lose it for half a second, look around like:
βWhere did it go?!β
β¦and then take off again the second it appeared somewhere else.
I was cracking up.
It reminded me that sometimes the simplest things bring the biggest joy.
This was an old toy.
Nothing expensive.
Nothing fancy.
Something she had loved years ago as a kitten.
And yet the excitement was still there.
Thereβs something sweet about that.
Sometimes we think joy has to come from something new, something bigger, or something impressive.
But God often gives us joy in the smallest things.
A forgotten toy.
A silly moment.
A pet doing something that makes us laugh.
A memory that suddenly comes back to life.
James 1:17 says:
βEvery good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.β
β James 1:17 NIV
God is still good.
He is still faithful.
And He still brings joy into our lives in ways we might not expect.
Sometimes all it takes is finding an old laser pointer in the middle of an organizing project. πβ€οΈ
Todayβs Message:
Donβt overlook the simple joys.
Sometimes the thing you thought belonged to another season can still bring a whole lot of joy today.
And apparently RaeRae is living proof. ππΎ
